Man Hospitalised After Threats Rock Sidcup Schools

Police have launched a probe after a man was hospitalised following alleged threats made against several schools in Sidcup.

Officers rushed to St Andrews Road at 2.56pm on October 9 after reports of a man making threats at a local school. The suspect was quickly taken to hospital, and police stood down the immediate incident.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed an investigation is underway. They also reassured the public that no other suspects are currently outstanding.

Precautionary School Lockdowns in Sidcup

In response, schools around Sidcup acted fast to keep pupils and staff safe. Several went into precautionary lockdowns.

Royal Park Academy told parents about a “serious situation” involving a “potential threat within the local area.”

“The safety of our children and staff is always our number one priority,” the school said. “Out of an abundance of caution and in conjunction with police advice, we have enacted a partial lockdown. All children and staff are currently safe inside the building.”

The academy confirmed it is working closely with police as the investigation continues.

Met Police Keep Sidcup on High Alert

A Met Police spokesperson promised that safer neighbourhood teams will maintain daily patrols around Sidcup, ready to respond to any concerns.

The incident has shaken the community, but police assure the public they are treating the matter with the highest priority.
