Three Men Jailed Over Violent Daylight Watch Robberies in Mayfair

Three men have been locked up following a brazen spate of violent robberies targeting luxury watch owners in the heart of Mayfair. The thugs struck in broad daylight on Stratton Street and Brewer Street over two days in June 2024, leaving victims terrified and two high-value watches stolen.

Robbers Stalked Victims in Wealthy Mayfair Streets

The Metropolitan Police launched a major investigation that revealed the suspects – Tedros Haile (35), Mahad Jammeh (24), and Christian Whittingham (27) – had carefully scouted their targets. They singled out people flaunting expensive timepieces before confronting and threatening them in public.

  • Three victims were approached aggressively.
  • Two luxury watches were forcibly taken.
  • All victims were left shaken by the violence.

Haile, from Fulham Palace Road, admitted to one robbery charge initially but was later found guilty of a second robbery and an attempted robbery. Meanwhile, Jammeh of Beaconsfield Road and Whittingham from Granville Road pleaded guilty to three robbery offences each.

Arrests Made After CCTV and Forensic Breakthrough

The trio were snared by police on July 30, 2024, after a detailed probe using CCTV footage and vehicle tracking uncovered their movements. Crucial evidence, including clothing linked to the crimes, was recovered and matched through forensic tests.

  • Tedros Haile was sentenced to 11 years at Southwark Crown Court on April 17, 2025.
  • Mahad Jammeh received 8 years’ imprisonment the same day.
  • Christian Whittingham was jailed for 10 years and 6 months on June 20, 2025.

Police Crackdown on Violent Street Crime

“Our investigation has ensured three violent offenders have been removed from our streets. Every robbery has a significant and lasting effect on victims. Tackling violent crime is a Met priority,” said Detective Inspector Lizzie Beeston.

She highlighted the police’s New Met for 1 Plan, which deploys localised proactive teams to reduce street robberies and keep Londoners safe.
