Arson Attack Destroys Abandoned Caravans in Kennoway

A suspected arson blaze has wrecked two abandoned caravans in Kennoway, Fife, narrowly avoiding a major woodland fire. Fury is growing over Fife Council’s slow response to the hazard.

Council Sticker ‘Under Investigation’ – But No Action

The first caravan was dumped in Cults, Kennoway nearly three weeks ago. Fife Council slapped a sticker on it marking it “under investigation” – but left it sitting there. No removal or enforcement followed.

Then a second caravan appeared beside it, this one loaded with tyres, sparking local suspicion. That caravan was deliberately set alight, with flames quickly devouring both vehicles and threatening nearby woodland.

Woodland Fire Almost Sparks Disaster

Residents say the fire came alarmingly close to spreading into the woods, risking a serious environmental and safety disaster.

“Well done Fife Council for attaching the sticker — it made the world of difference,” one angry local tweeted sarcastically.

The barb reflects the growing frustration with the council’s failure to act sooner and prevent the fire.

Fire Crews Respond – Police Probe Suspected Arson

Firefighters rushed in to douse the flames before they spread further. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Police are now treating the incident as suspected arson and have launched an investigation.

A Fife Council spokesperson said they were aware of the first caravan and had started the standard removal process, but didn’t confirm if any direct enforcement was planned before the blaze.

Community Demands Swift Action and Tougher Controls

The incident has sparked calls from locals for:

  • Stricter enforcement against abandoned vehicles
  • Faster removal of hazards
  • More surveillance in fly-tipping hotspots
