Emergency Rush After Woman Trapped Between Cars

Emergency services swooped on Eastern Road, Brighton near the Royal Sussex County Hospital on Thursday at around 1:40pm. They responded to frantic calls about a woman trapped between two vehicles. Sussex Police confirmed the woman, in her 80s, suffered serious injuries and was rushed straight to the hospital.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to Eastern Road at around 1:40pm to a report of a woman trapped between two vehicles. The woman, who is in her 80s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”

Road Closures as Rescue Teams Spring Into Action

The crash brought part of Eastern Road and Sudley Place to a standstill while emergency crews tackled the scene. Thankfully, both roads have now been reopened.

The police added: “Part of Eastern Road and Sudley Place were closed while we dealt with the incident. Both roads have now reopened.”

Firefighters Play Key Role in Dramatic Rescue

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) joined the effort at nearby Bristol Gate, helping to free the woman from her grim predicament. A spokesperson said firefighters “assisted with the rescue of one person involved in the incident” and handed her over to paramedics for urgent care.

The swift teamwork between Sussex Police, ESFRS, and ambulance crews ensured the injured woman got fast and effective treatment at the scene.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Sussex Police are now calling on anyone who saw the crash or has CCTV or dashcam footage to step forward. They want to piece together exactly what happened.

“Witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision is asked to come forward,” the spokesperson urged. “Information can be reported online, quoting serial 601 of 09/01.”
