Shoplifting Scoundrel Banned from Eastbourne High Streets for Five Years
Lee Parnaby, 32, has finally been slapped with a hefty five-year ban from major retailers across East Sussex after nicking thousands of pounds worth of goods.
The Eastbourne local, from Terminus Road, pleaded guilty to two fresh shoplifting charges at Brighton Magistrates Court on January 7. But this crook has a shocking record — 50 shoplifting convictions since March 2024, making him one of Sussex’s most notorious offenders.
Criminal Behaviour Order Targets Retail Rogue
Sussex Police pushed for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) to keep Parnaby out of trouble. The court granted it, barring him from entering key stores across East Sussex for the next five years. The ban covers:
- All Co-Op and Sainsbury’s stores in East Sussex
- Marks and Spencer, Terminus Road, Eastbourne
- Tesco, Asda, and Morrisons stores in Eastbourne
- Any retail premises in Sussex if asked to leave
The CBO aims to stop Parnaby’s shoplifting spree and shield retail staff and shoppers from ongoing distress.
Police Praise Tough Stance on Persistent Offender
“Lee Parnaby is a prolific offender who repeatedly targeted the same stores, causing distress and fear to staff and customers. Sussex Police will use every avenue available to deal with offenders like him,” said Inspector Sarah Taylor of the Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team.
She added, “This CBO for Parnaby is a real success and serves to protect retailers in the longer term. We are committed to improving working relationships with local stores. Anyone choosing to offend in this way should know that if they do not take the support offered to address their behaviour, we will not hesitate in escalating matters.”
This strong legal crackdown sends a clear message: persistent shoplifters face serious consequences, and local shops won’t tolerate lawlessness.
