Body Found in Car Boot Sparks Murder Probe in Ilford and Corby
Police launch a joint investigation after a 24-year-old woman’s body was discovered in a car boot near Valentines Park, Ilford, East London. Officers say the death is suspicious and are treating it as a murder case.
From Corby to Ilford: The Hunt for Answers
The grisly find came after concerns were raised about the woman’s welfare on November 13. Northamptonshire Police started inquiries at a property in Sturton Walk, Corby, leading them to team up with the Met Police in Ilford.
The victim’s body was found near Brisbane Road, close to Valentines Park’s entrance. Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team and Metropolitan Police are working together to piece the puzzle.
“A targeted incident is suspected, with no wider risk to the public,” said Superintendent Steve Freeman of Northamptonshire Police. “The suspect remains at large, and no arrests have yet been made.”
Local Scene: Neighbours Shocked, Police Hold Tight
Police maintain a guard at the Corby property, a former House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) once housing up to a dozen residents. Neighbours reported a loud commotion days ago, followed by someone fleeing in a hurry.
One said: “The way that gate slammed, I knew something had happened. I heard banging and then someone took off quickly.”
Community on Edge as Police Appeal for Information
The victim’s name is expected to be released soon. The death has shaken Corby, a town rarely touched by such violent crime since the killing of Rayon Pennycook over three years ago.
Police urge anyone with information to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555111. Patrols continue in both towns as the investigation intensifies.
