Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Assault in Sussex Pub
A man has been charged with murder following a deadly attack at The Dolphin and Anchor on West Street, Sussex. The brutal assault happened around 11pm on Thursday, June 20, leaving a 57-year-old South Yorkshire man with critical head injuries.
Victim Dies at Scene Despite Emergency Efforts
Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of the assault. Despite heroic efforts from police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Suspect in Custody, Additional Arrests Made
- Kieran Egan, 30, from Baldmoor Lake Road, Birmingham, was arrested at the scene and is now charged with murder. He is currently in custody and set to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 24.
- A 42-year-old man from County Durham was also arrested on suspicion of affray and released on conditional bail.
- Police are actively searching for a third man believed to be involved in the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Joseph of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team expressed her condolences to the victim’s family. She urged anyone who witnessed the attack or captured mobile or CCTV footage to come forward.
