Man’s 100ft Cruise Ship Plunge Lands Him in Hot Water
A thrill-seeking American man admits he didn’t think twice before jumping off a cruise ship – and it nearly cost him his life.
Risky Leap on Symphony of the Seas
Nick Naydev, 27, decided to go viral by leaping from the 11th deck of Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas while docked in Nassau, Bahamas. The jump was from a staggering 100 feet into shark-infested waters below.
Luckily, Naydev survived but not unscathed. He hit the water hard, injuring his tailbone and neck. “I remember hitting the water, impact was pretty big ’cause it was pretty high up,” he told Inside Edition. “It impacted my tailbone and my neck pretty hard, luckily it wasn’t anything serious.”
Drunken Daredevil Warns Against Copycat Stunts
Naydev confessed he’d been drinking heavily the night before and described the jump as “stupid and reckless.” He urged others not to try the stunt. “I hope I don’t inspire anybody to do this because it is very dangerous, I mean they’ll think this is a joke,” he said.
Royal Caribbean Bans Daredevil for Life
The cruise giant didn’t take the stunt lightly. Royal Caribbean banned Naydev and his friends for life, branding the jump “stupid and reckless.” They are also considering legal action.
Footage shows Naydev swimming calmly after the plunge, with a lifeboat quickly rushing to his aid.
Deadly Consequences of Overboard Incidents
Experts warn that going overboard is often fatal. Safety protocols are strict, but survival rates remain low. Naydev’s luck is not shared by many – recent tragedies include an Australian man who died after falling overboard during a wild three-day party cruise. His body was recovered following dramatic rescue efforts amid rough seas.
The chilling reminder: chasing social media fame with dangerous stunts on cruise ships can end in disaster.
