Three nabbed in £2 million jewellery heist in Wrotham
Police have arrested three suspects tied to a daring jewellery theft worth over £2 million in Wrotham. The gang is believed to be targeting travelling salespeople dealing with high-end jewellery stores.
Luxury loot stolen at petrol station
The crime happened on Thursday, 18 January 2024, when a jewellery seller parked their vehicle at a petrol garage on London Road, Wrotham. Thieves swiped a bag packed with expensive jewellery straight from the car.
Charged and remanded at Medway Court
Edgar Ardila Ruiz, 36, and Monica Diaz, 43, both with no fixed address, have been charged with conspiracy to steal and theft from a motor vehicle. They appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 February and were remanded in custody. Their next court date is set for 11 March at Maidstone Crown Court.
Third suspect released on bail
A 62-year-old man was arrested on 17 February in connection with the heist but has since been released on bail. He must report back to police on 17 May for further questioning.
