Snow and Ice Set to Batter Southern England Tomorrow
Get ready for a chilly shock! The Met Office has slammed a yellow weather warning on parts of southern England as temperatures dive and heavy snow showers are expected within 24 hours.
Watch Out: Travel Chaos Looms
From 4am Monday, Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, and West Sussex will face icy roads and potential train delays. The Met Office warns of “a mix of sleet and snow showers” with the North Downs in Sussex expected to get the heaviest snowfall.
Commuters should brace for longer journey times and consider sticking to main roads whether walking or cycling.
Health Risks Rise as Cold Snap Grips UK
An amber cold-health alert is active until Friday across the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, and South West. Meanwhile, a yellow cold alert covers the North East, Yorkshire, The Humber, East and South East England, plus London for most of the week.
Dr Agostinho Sousa, head of extreme events at UKHSA, urged: “If you have a pre-existing condition or are over 65, heat the rooms where you spend most time—like your living room or bedroom—to stay safe in the cold.”
After Storm Henk’s Wrath, PM Tours Flood Zones
These warnings come hot on the heels of Storm Henk, which caused chaos and tragic flooding claiming two lives. Today, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited flood-hit areas to check on recovery efforts.
The yellow warning lasts until 10am Monday. Stay warm, stay safe, and expect slippery conditions as Britain braces for winter’s latest bite.
