Morning murder shock in Parbury Road

Just after 4.30am on Wednesday, 3 January, a man walked into a police station claiming he had harmed a woman at a home on Parbury Road. Officers rushed to the scene and sadly found the lifeless body of a 32-year-old woman.

Tragic discovery sparks murder probe

Next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support. A post-mortem will be carried out soon to determine the cause of death.

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb, has launched a full murder investigation.

“This is a tragic incident that has left a family devastated,” said DCI Webb. “While the local community may be shocked, I want to stress that we are not looking for anyone else and there is no immediate risk to the public. My thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones at this sad time.”

Suspect arrested and in custody

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital as a precaution before being moved into custody. Police have sealed off the crime scene and investigations continue.

Police urge locals to stay calm

Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, heading policing for South East Command, appealed to the community:

“We understand the concern this tragic event will cause. We are working closely with homicide officers as enquiries progress. Thanks to the residents near the scene for their patience and understanding. My thoughts remain with the victim’s family.”
