Gosport Teen Locked Up for Murder of Fareham Man
A 17-year-old from Gosport has been slammed with a 17-year jail sentence for the brutal murder of 29-year-old Michael Deary in Fareham.
Young Killer Pleads Guilty
Luke Mikael Pearce, who has no fixed address, admitted the murder at Winchester Crown Court on 20 December. He was sentenced at the same court shortly after. Michael’s body was found at his home in Omaha Close on 20 August 2018.
Stabbed Five Times in Shocking Attack
Police arrived at Michael’s flat around 4:30pm after a welfare check call. Officers noticed the flat was in disarray through a window before entering to find Michael had been stabbed five times in an unprovoked, sustained attack.

“Today’s sentencing provides some closure for Michael’s family after this harrowing investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ellie Hurd. “Pearce’s guilty plea avoided a trial, sparing Michael’s relatives prolonged media exposure. This remains a tough time for his loved ones who ask for privacy.”
“Our team’s exhaustive forensic work and community help were vital in tracking Pearce, who knew Michael and had stayed overnight at the flat. Thanks to everyone in Fareham who came forward with information,” Hurd added.
