Wanted: Cunning Burglar Targets Elderly Man in Cosham
Police have issued an E-fit of a man they want to quiz after an 88-year-old’s flat was burgled in broad daylight.
Burglar Gains Entry with Fake Plumbing Story
At around 2.30pm on Tuesday, 28 February, the suspect showed up at the elderly victim’s flat on 1 Close. Claiming he needed to check the kitchen due to work upstairs, the man tricked his way inside.
After a brief visit, the victim realized his wallet had been tampered with. Cash was stolen from a drawer in the living room.
Police Describe Burglar’s Look
- White male, around 30 years old
- Approx. 6ft tall, slim build
- Pointy nose
- Wore black trousers, black denim jacket, black cap and gloves
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Detective Constable Gemma Tullett from Fratton CID said:
“Do you recognise the man in the E-fit? We want to speak to him regarding this burglary.
“If you saw anyone matching this description in the Cosham area at that time, or acting suspiciously, please get in touch.
“The man may not have acted alone. We want to reassure the public this seems to be an isolated incident.”
