Serious Crash Closes M27 Eastbound Between J11 and J12
A nasty smash has shut the eastbound carriageway of the M27 between junctions 11 and 12 this morning. The pile-up happened just before 7am, sparking major delays and gridlock.
Multiple Vehicles Involved in the Chaos
The crash involved at least five vehicles, including a Vauxhall Corsa, a BMW X5, and a motorcycle. Two other cars are believed to be part of the collision. Witnesses reported seeing a motorcyclist lying in the road amid the wreckage.
Long Delays as Emergency Services Rush to Scene
- Two lanes closed, causing queues and two-hour delays
- Three ambulances, two rapid response teams, and a hazardous area response unit dispatched
- Police and Highways England managing traffic and recovery crews working on clearing the wrecks
Injuries Reported but No Serious Threat to Life
The motorcyclist was rushed to QA Hospital in Cosham with neck, arm, and leg injuries. Thankfully, the injuries are not thought to be serious. Two other people involved suffered minor injuries.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman said, “We were called just before 7am regarding five cars and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist has neck, arm and leg injuries, while two others suffered minor injuries.”
The motorway remains partially closed this morning as recovery teams work to clear the scene. Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and seek alternative routes.
