Andover Peeping Tom Jailed Nearly Five Years for Secretly Filming Kids
John Fielding, 46, from Old Winton Road, Andover, has been slammed with a hefty jail term of four years and ten months for secretly filming children with a camera pen. He appeared at Bristol Crown Court on July 22 for sentencing after pleading guilty to multiple serious offences.
Guilty Plea to Shocking Crimes
- Four counts of outraging public decency
- Six counts of making indecent photos/pseudo-photos of a child
- Two counts of possessing prohibited images of children
- Two counts of possessing extreme pornography
- Three counts of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order
Customer’s Bravery Exposes Filming Fiend
Fielding’s twisted crimes were revealed on May 27, when a suspicious customer at the Lidl on Western Avenue, Andover, confronted him. With help from other shoppers, the man detained Fielding until police arrived. Officers discovered a camera pen hidden in Fielding’s bag.
Disturbing Discovery in Police Investigation
Hampshire Constabulary’s Northern Investigations team uncovered videos showing Fielding covertly filming children and teenagers in public spots across the South and South West of England. He used various devices including a camera pen and a GoPro.
Further searches found thousands of indecent images downloaded from the internet since January 2023 on Fielding’s computer.
Justice Served – But the Nightmare Continues
Alongside his prison sentence, Fielding must comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the Sexual Offenders Register indefinitely.
“John Fielding is a devious man who used covert methods to film children in public places. This offending came to light thanks to the actions and bravery of a vigilant member of the public who spotted Fielding acting suspiciously in Andover,” said PC Stephen Court.
