Leigh Park’s beloved Bus Stop Cat gets fitting tribute with oak bench memorial

A heartfelt memorial for Missy, the much-loved Bus Stop Cat of Leigh Park, has been unveiled in Havant. Funded entirely by donations from fans worldwide, the oak bench features a charming cat sculpture curled up at one end.

Global fans fund Missy’s tribute

Missy passed away in February, leaving a huge hole in the community. Her story went viral, inspiring a flood of donations from all corners of the globe to create a special spot to remember her.

Mayor hails Leigh Park’s generosity

The bench was unveiled at 2pm on Tuesday, 7th June by Havant’s Mayor, Councillor Faith Ponsonby.

“I am amazed because it went right round the world and shows what a loving community this is. Leigh Park is a wonderful community to be in.

It’s one of the most generous and warmhearted communities I’ve come across. They really rally round when they are needed.”

Missy’s owner, Richard McCormick, was deeply touched by the support and the beautiful memorial dedicated to his feline friend.
