Gosport Home Razed in Bedroom Blaze
A family in Gosport have been left homeless after a fierce fire tore through their bedroom this afternoon.
Blaze Breaks Out on Albert Street
Fire crews from Gosport and nearby Fareham rushed to a house on Albert Street just after 3pm on Monday. Three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Southsea joined the fight, alongside a water carrier from Fareham, battling a severe bedroom fire that quickly escalated.
Rapid Response Saves Neighbours
The first team on scene from Gosport confirmed no one was inside the property. Eight firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled ferocious flames that engulfed the top floor and spread to part of the roof. Using hose reels, high-pressure jets, and ventilation fans, they got the blaze under control within half an hour.
“This undoubtedly assisted in restricting the spread of fire to adjacent properties. Crews worked very hard to bring the fire under control as quickly as they did,” said Group Manager Tony Deacon from Hampshire Fire and Rescue.
Street Sealed Off, Support Provided
Police cordoned off Albert Street, evacuating two neighbouring homes as the fire was fought. The Red Cross also deployed their Fire and Emergency Support vehicle to offer welfare and assistance to the displaced family.
The cause of the devastating fire remains under investigation.
