Major Crash involving School Party on A38 in Birmingham

Pupils going on a school art trip have been involved in a “serious collision”, the school said. It is understood that the school bus was in collision with a refuse truck. All emergency services are at the scene and an investigation is been led by officers from West Midlands Roads Police team. The minibus has been covered with green tarpaulin over side windows. One person has been seriously injured John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, said it was “aware of a road traffic accident involving some of our students. Emergency crews are at the scene on the A38 Kingsbury Road in Castle Vale, Birmingham. The road is closed and the ambulance service says there are “numerous resources” on the scene. In a statement on its website, the school added: “A number of our Year 9 and Year 12 students that are on an art trip have been involved in a serious road traffic accident this morning. We are working to support those directly affected.” West Midlands Ambulance service spokesperson said :West Midlands Ambulance Service received a call at 9am to a road traffic collision between a lorry and a minibus on Kingsbury Road in Castle Vale, Birmingham this morning. Two ambulances, three paramedic officers, a senior paramedic officer, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response team and the Midlands Air Ambulance Crew from Cosford in a rapid response car to the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived on scene to discover a collision between a minibus and a lorry. “Ambulance staff assessed multiple patients from the minibus at the scene, together with the lorry driver.” More to follow Shortly
