Lanarkshire Community Mourns as Local Man Dies in Fatal Crash with HGV

The Lanarkshire community is in mourning following the tragic death of a young local man in a road accident near Lesmahagow. Blane Rundell, aged 22, has been identified as the victim of the fatal collision that occurred last Thursday, December 7.

Blane was driving a red Suzuki Alto car when it was involved in a crash with a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) on the B7078 north of Kerse Roundabout. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported from the crash.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence relating to the incident. The Lanarkshire Road Policing Unit, led by Sergeant Chris McColm, is conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Sergeant McColm extended his condolences to Blane’s family, stating: “Our thoughts are with Blane’s family at this very difficult time.” He also urged anyone with additional information or who might have witnessed the incident to contact the police to assist with the ongoing investigation.
