The Disappearance

Michael Mosley, known for popularising the 5:2 diet and hosting BBC programs such as “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor” and “The One Show,” vanished while on holiday in Symi. His wife, Clare, reported him missing after he left her on the beach and embarked on a walk to the centre of the island. His phone was found at their accommodation.

Search and Rescue Efforts

Local authorities swiftly launched a search operation, which now includes divers, police officers, volunteers, and firefighters. A helicopter from Athens has been deployed to assist in the search. Drones are scouring hard-to-reach areas, and a police sniffer dog is aiding the efforts.

The Pedi Area Focus

The search is centred around the Pedi area of Symi, where a woman reported seeing Mosley on the day of his disappearance. The island’s mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, remains hopeful but acknowledges the challenges. “It is a very small, controlled area, full of people,” he said. “If something happened to him there, we would have found him by now.”
