Counter Terrorism Investigation Leads to Arrests in London – UKNIP

Two men have been arrested by counter-terrorism detectives as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected terrorism offences. The arrests were made by officers in east London and at Heathrow Airport.

In the early hours of Monday, 17 July, a 56-year-old man from east London was apprehended at approximately 05:40. Later that day, at around 12:35 a 28-year-old Canadian national was arrested at Heathrow Airport upon his arrival on a flight from Canada.

Both individuals have been arrested on suspicion of membership of a proscribed organisation, an offence that goes against section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000. They are currently being held under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 at a police station in West London.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police searches were conducted at three addresses in east London. The search operations aim to gather evidence and uncover any relevant information pertaining to the suspected terrorism offences.

The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information to the authorities to aid in the fight against terrorism.
