Police Appeal After Inappropriate Behaviour at Sittingbourne Bar

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was arrested following a report of inappropriate behaviour and assaults at a Sittingbourne bar.

The incident happened at The Vineyard, West Street, shortly after 1am on Saturday 23 August.

What happened

According to Kent Police, it is alleged that a woman was touched over her clothing by a man, who was then asked to leave the premises. A disturbance broke out during which two members of staff were assaulted.

No serious injuries were reported.

Arrest made

Officers attended the scene and a 28-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and sexual assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Witness appeal

Detectives are now urging anyone who was inside the venue at the time to come forward.

A Kent Police spokesperson said:

“An investigation is ongoing, and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have information that could help. If you were at The Vineyard on West Street during the early hours of 23 August and have not yet spoken to police, please get in touch.”
