A Deliveroo cyclist who struck a young girl and fled the scene was traced by police thanks to the quick actions of a local resident—despite the fact that the Good Samaritan was acting in breach of restrictions placed on them by police.

Hit-and-Run Incident in Ealing

The incident took place last summer, just 100 metres from the resident’s home, when a Deliveroo rider was cycling on the wrong side of the road. As a young girl was crossing, the cyclist collided with her, leaving her injured on the road before riding away.

Resident Captures Offender’s Vehicle

Despite restrictions imposed by Ealing Metropolitan Police, the resident took swift action, capturing footage of the offending cyclist and vehicle, which led police to track down the suspect.

Describing their actions, the resident stated:
“I was just doing my civic duty in my local community like any decent person would.”

Police Response and Investigation

Thanks to the footage provided, police were able to trace the Deliveroo rider and investigate the hit-and-run.

However, the resident has highlighted what they believe to be unfair restrictions placed on them by Ealing Police, suggesting that the situation demonstrated how absurd these measures were.
