Man Charged in Connection with Double-Fatal M4 Collision

A man has been charged following a serious collision on the M4 last October that claimed the lives of a mother and daughter.

Cheryl Woods, 61, and Sarha Smith, 40, both from Caerphilly, tragically died on October 20, 2023, in a multi-vehicle collision between junction 17 for Chippenham and junction 18 for Bath.

Charges and Court Appearance

Firas Zeineddine, 45, of Bluebell Drive, Keynsham, has been charged with two counts of death by dangerous driving.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that Zeineddine is due to appear in court at a later date.

Police Statement

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said:

“This was a tragic incident that resulted in the loss of two lives, and our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Cheryl Woods and Sarha Smith during this difficult time.”

The collision caused significant disruption on the M4 at the time, with emergency services attending the scene and the motorway closed for several hours.

Ongoing Proceedings

Wiltshire Police have emphasized that, as legal proceedings are ongoing, no further details will be released at this time. The public is reminded not to speculate on the case to ensure a fair trial.
