A staggering 20 cats living in a tiny garden in North East Lincolnshire have been rescued by a local charity, costing them over £3,000.
Elderly Woman’s Legacy Left Cats Stranded
The felines were cared for by an elderly woman who fed them as best she could. After her sad passing, the cats were left stranded with no one to look after them. Cats Protection staff were called in last month to rescue the strays.
Charity Struggles to Cope with Huge Rescue
The local Cats Protection branch admitted they “certainly didn’t have the space for all 20” and had to reach out to other teams for help. Each cat was given a full medical check-up, including vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and neutering where possible. Some needed extra care for injuries.
Many Cats Unfit for Rehoming, Charity Appeals for Help
Because many cats had lived rough for so long, they weren’t all suitable for adoption. The charity has worked hard to find safe homes and is now appealing to the public for donations to cover the staggering £3,000+ cost of rescue and care.
