Further Appeal Issued After Brighton Beach Rape and Assault Incident

Sussex Police have issued a renewed identity appeal following a report of rape and sexual assault on Brighton beach in the early hours of September 8. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. between Brighton’s two iconic piers.

The two victims, who are known to one another, are currently receiving support from specialist officers.

On Thursday, September 27, two 19-year-old men were arrested at Leyton Custody in London on suspicion of rape, voyeurism, and sexual assault by touching. They have since been released on bail with strict conditions while police continue their investigation.

Chief Inspector Simon Marchant stated, “Since the report, patrols have been enhanced along Brighton seafront, with our partners supporting the ongoing efforts. We are still looking to speak with a man seen in the photograph in relation to this investigation and ask anyone who recognises him or has information to come forward.”

Anyone with information is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Charlbury. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
