Police responded to reports of anti-social behaviour in Tingbourne this evening after a group of youths climbed onto the roofs of High Street shops, allegedly using catapults to target members of the public.
Authorities were called after concerned residents and shop owners witnessed the reckless actions of the individuals, who were seen hurling objects from the rooftops. Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and warned the group that their parents would be receiving a visit soon.
Public and Police Response
A police spokesperson stated:
“This kind of reckless and dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated. Those involved have been warned, and their parents will be contacted as part of our efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour in the community.”
Residents took to social media to express their frustration, with one commenting:
“It’s completely unacceptable—someone could have been seriously hurt. The police need to take strong action before this escalates further.”
Shop owners also raised concerns, stating that incidents like this could cause property damage and put pedestrians at risk.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the disruptive behaviour or has footage of the incident to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and have warned that further action may be taken if offences continue.
