A man is fighting for his life after being shot in Woolwich on Monday night (June 10).
Police were called at approximately 10:35 pm to reports of gunshots near Granby House on Ogilby Street. Armed officers rushed to the scene, but no victim could be found initially. However, it was later reported that a man in his 20s had attended a hospital with a gunshot injury. He remains in a critical condition.
A crime scene has been established, and police are continuing their search for the attacker. No arrests have been made yet, and the Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 22:35hrs on Monday, June 10 to reports of a firearm discharge in the vicinity of Granby House, SE18. Officers, including armed officers, attended the scene but no victim could be located. Police were subsequently informed that a man, aged in his 20s, had attended a hospital suffering a gunshot injury. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
“A crime scene remains in place at the location. No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7941/10Jun.”
The shooting incident has left the local community in shock, with residents expressing their concerns about safety in the area. The police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of the community.
