A 25-year-old woman was assaulted with an unknown substance on South End in South Croydon on Thursday evening, prompting a police investigation.
Police were called to the scene at 20:55 hrs on Thursday, 1 August, following reports of the assault. Officers attended along with the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service (LAS).
According to initial reports, the victim was approached by a male suspect who threw an unidentified substance at her. The woman was promptly taken to a south London hospital by LAS, where her condition was assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. Authorities have confirmed that the substance, while yet to be identified, was not acid.
At this early stage, no arrests have been made, and enquiries are ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage to contact us. Your information could be crucial in helping us identify and apprehend the suspect.”
