A woman in her 90s has been seriously injured after being struck by a golf buggy at Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club, prompting a major emergency response and an airlift to a London hospital.
The incident happened just before 11am on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the golf club located off Collingwood Road in Whitstable, Kent. Emergency services—including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance crew—quickly descended on the scene.
According to club director Derek Bates, the woman, a member of the golf club, was hit by a buggy driven by another member. She reportedly became trapped underneath the vehicle. Fellow golfers immediately rushed to help, providing first aid before paramedics arrived.
“Other lady club members who were present at the scene responded brilliantly and gave essential first aid before the arrival of emergency services,” said Bates. “Our thoughts are with our injured lady member who we hope will make a full and speedy recovery.”
A critical care team treated the woman on the course before she was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London with what were described as serious injuries.
Eyewitness Paul George, 83, who lives across from the club, described the emergency as “a major incident”:
“We saw two ambulances, a paramedic, and then the helicopter land on the course. It was quite a dramatic and noisy scene, and they all made their way up to the second par.”
Photos from the scene show multiple emergency vehicles parked in the club’s car park and on the greens, with a sign placed outside stating the club was closed.
A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed:
“We are currently assisting with a medical incident at Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club. Officers were called to the scene at 10.50am.”
The air ambulance reportedly departed shortly after stabilising the patient, while ground crews remained on-site into the afternoon.
As of now, the golf club remains temporarily closed as the incident is reviewed by police and safety officials.
