A woman in her 50s is currently fighting for her life in hospital following an incident at a block of flats in Woolwich.
The incident unfolded at a residential address on Nightingale Vale near Engineer Close around 7:15 am on June 3. Police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews responded to reports of an injured woman at the location.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the woman inside the address with serious injuries. She was promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical treatment and remains in critical condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with enquiries ongoing to determine the cause of the woman’s injuries.
In connection with the incident, a man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He was subsequently taken to a south London police station for questioning and has been bailed to return on a date in mid-July.
Both Metropolitan Police and LAS spokespersons confirmed their respective involvements in the incident. The LAS deployed multiple resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, advanced paramedics, and an incident response team. Additionally, a trauma team from London’s air ambulance, comprising a doctor and paramedic, attended the scene to provide specialized care.
The patient was treated at the scene before being transported to a major trauma centre as a priority.
