A woman in her 60s has tragically died after being rescued from the sea off Skegness beach yesterday evening, despite desperate efforts by lifeboat crews and paramedics to save her.
Emergency services were called at around 5pm following reports that a woman had got into difficulty in the water. The RNLI launched a lifeboat as part of a major rescue operation, with support from HM Coastguard, an air ambulance, and Lincolnshire Police.
The woman was pulled from the sea and brought back to shore, where CPR was carried out. Sadly, she was later pronounced dead.
A spokesperson for the RNLI confirmed:
"Our lifeboat was launched in response to reports of a person in difficulty in the water at Skegness beach. The casualty was recovered to shore where CPR was administered. Despite the best efforts of all involved, the person was unable to be saved."
Lincolnshire Police said her next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The incident comes during peak summer holiday season, with safety agencies urging beachgoers to remain vigilant about tides, swimming conditions, and currents.
