A woman arrested in connection with a tragic crash at a school in Wimbledon, South London, has been re-bailed until January of next year, according to an announcement by the Metropolitan Police. This incident, which occurred on July 6, resulted in the loss of two young lives and left several others injured.

The harrowing incident unfolded when a Land Rover crashed through a fence and into The Study prep school in Wimbledon, resulting in the untimely deaths of two eight-year-old girls, Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau. Sixteen individuals were treated at the scene for various injuries, and a number, including a seven-month-old infant, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 46-year-old woman, a resident of Wimbledon, was taken into custody by authorities on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She was later released on bail as detectives from the Met Police’s serious collision unit launched an investigation into the tragic event.

Inquests into the tragic deaths of Nuria and Selena were initiated and subsequently adjourned at Inner West London Coroner’s Court on July 12. The families of the young victims continue to request privacy during this immensely challenging period. Thankfully, there are no additional victims remaining in the hospital.

Both families have expressed their profound grief and shared heartfelt tributes to their beloved daughters. Nuria’s family conveyed, “Nuria was the light of our lives. She embodied joy, kindness, and generosity and she was loved by all around her.” Selena’s family remembered her as “an intelligent and cheeky girl adored and loved by everyone.”
