Woman Body Lay undiscovered for Two weeks in Somerstown tower block
A Portsmouth Coroner’s Court has heard how a woman’s body lay locked inside a laundry room at a Somerstown tower block for almost two weeks despite the police searching the building. A public appeal was published at the beginning of April after family members became concerned over the disappearance of local woman Victoria Evans. Despite police officers conducting a search of Leamington House and the local area it was only 13-days later, when detectives examined Council CCTV footage in the building, did they discover her movements, and final resting place. A post-mortem found the mother-of-three, who had spoken of feeling suicidal, had alcohol and a level of morphine in her blood which proved fatal. The coroner gave her condolences to the family as they remembered Victoria as a kind and generous woman and loving mum. Hampshire police have conducted an internal review of procedures when conducting searches for missing people.
