British Transport Police Appeal for Victim and Witnesses
British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for the victim and any witnesses to come forward after a hate crime incident on board an Elizabeth Line train.
The incident occurred at around 6:20 pm on Saturday, 22 February, when a woman wearing a hijab was assaulted by a man while travelling between Ilford and Forest Gate railway stations.
Suspect Arrested as Investigation Continues
Police officers responded to the report and attended Forest Gate railway station, where a man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault.
The suspect has since been bailed while investigations continue.
Police Urge Victim and Witnesses to Come Forward
British Transport Police are urging the victim or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
A BTP spokesperson said:
“If you witnessed the incident or if this happened to you, please contact us. Our officers are here to support you.”
