A woman in her early 30s endured a terrifying robbery in broad daylight on Vaughan Street near Railway Terrace in North Skelton, prompting a major police investigation and urgent appeal for witnesses.
The shocking incident unfolded around 5:13 PM on Sunday, March 30, as the woman was test-driving a red Audi A3. During the drive, a man allegedly assaulted her, threatened her with a weapon, and then stole her phone and money before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.
Woman Injured and Deeply Shaken
The victim sustained injuries to her head, body, and legs and has been left traumatised by the attack. Emergency services responded swiftly, and Cleveland Police began an immediate search for the stolen car.
The Audi A3 was later spotted by officers on Ormesby Road North, but the driver failed to stop, sparking a brief pursuit. The vehicle was later found abandoned behind Easson Street, where forensic teams are now examining it for evidence.
Two Men Arrested
Two men, aged 29 and 31, have since been arrested and questioned in connection with the robbery. Both suspects have been released on bail as detectives from Redcar & Cleveland CID continue their enquiries.

Police believe that several vehicles were in the area at the time of the assault and are now urgently appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
