A holidaymaker has described harrowing scenes on a Kent beach after a man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of teenagers in Leysdown-on-Sea.
The witness, who asked not to be named, said the violence followed an earlier altercation in a nearby pub car park. One of the teenagers, reportedly with a cut above his head, is said to have been involved in the confrontation before returning with others to attack the victim.
"They were kicking him in the head like a football and throwing rocks at him as he lay dying on the beach," the witness claimed.
Emergency services, including Kent Police officers and the landlord of a nearby pub, rushed to the scene and attempted CPR, but the man, believed to be in his 40s, died at the scene.
It is understood the victim was on holiday with his wife and young child, staying at a nearby caravan park. The man had reportedly been in contact with a teenage girl before the incident. His wife and child are believed to have witnessed the resuscitation efforts on the beach.
Kent Police have confirmed that three teenagers — a 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15 — have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as detectives continue their investigation.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses or those with footage from the Warden Bay Road area around 7pm on Sunday, 10 August, to contact Kent Police on 01622 690690 quoting reference 10-1384. Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
