Wiltshire Police have made two additional arrests in connection with an incident where a car is believed to have deliberately collided with a police officer near Devizes. This brings the total number of arrests to five individuals.
A 44-year-old woman from Devizes was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and being concerned in the supply of class-A drugs. Additionally, a 36-year-old woman from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course of justice. Both individuals have been released on bail.
The incident occurred on Saturday (01/06) when an officer approached the occupants of a white Dacia Jogger Expression parked in a field in Conscience Lane, near Devizes. The vehicle then collided with the officer, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment. The officer has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Three other individuals have previously been arrested in connection with this incident. A 20-year-old man from Trowbridge remains in custody, while a 22-year-old woman from Bristol has been released on bail. A man in his 30s from Twerton, near Bath, who was arrested earlier, has been released without charge.
The vehicle believed to have been used in the assault has been located and seized by police.
Detective Inspector Steve Edwards emphasized the seriousness of the incident and expressed gratitude for the public’s support in providing information. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact 101 and quote log number 383 of June 1.
