In the early hours of Saturday, August 24, 2024, West Midlands Police launched an investigation into a stabbing incident that occurred in Birmingham. The incident, which took place at the junction of Dudley Road and Bellefield Road, has resulted in one man being hospitalised and multiple arrests.
Police were called to the scene of a violent incident shortly before 1:30 a.m.on Saturday, August 24. A male victim, who suffered a slash injury, was promptly taken to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition as of Saturday evening.
In the aftermath of the attack, four individuals were arrested. These include three men, aged 34, 29, and 26, and a 22-year-old woman. The 34-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. The 22-year-old woman and the 26-year-old man have since been released, facing no further action. The 29-year-old man was charged with unrelated offences.
Detectives are currently examining mobile phone footage of the incident, which has been circulating on social media. This video evidence is being treated as a crucial part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have also addressed rumours circulating on social media. Contrary to some reports, the victim was not with a baby in a pushchair at the time of the attack. Instead, he was pushing a trolley containing personal belongings.
At this stage of the investigation, authorities believe this to be an isolated incident and are not seeking any additional suspects.
