A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a serious assault on Walworth Road in Southwark this morning.
Police were called to the scene at 7.24am following reports of an assault. Emergency services arrived to find a 40-year-old man with injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his condition was later assessed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.
A crime scene was established on the busy South London road while police carried out initial enquiries.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“At 07:24hrs on Friday, 27 June officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of an assault on Walworth Road, Southwark.
One victim, a 40-year-old man, presented with injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition was not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.
A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A crime scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing.”

Walworth Road has since reopened to traffic as the investigation continues.
