A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old man on Chingford Mount Road in Waltham Forest on Sunday evening.
At 9:14pm on 6 July, patrolling officers were alerted by members of the public to a serious incident in the E4 area. When they arrived, they discovered the victim suffering from a stab wound.
Despite receiving emergency first aid at the scene from officers and paramedics — including London’s Air Ambulance — the man sadly died at the scene.
No Arrests Yet as Investigation Continues
As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made, and a crime scene remains in place. Road closures are expected to continue for several hours while detectives carry out a full forensic examination and canvass for witnesses.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police Statement
Chief Superintendent Dan Card, who leads policing in Waltham Forest, said:
“We are deeply saddened by the events that took place last night and our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this hugely difficult time.
Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened.
We understand the impact this incident will have on the local community and officers are being deployed on reassurance patrols to help answer any questions or concerns.”
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time — or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage — to contact them immediately.
