Detectives have named the victim of a fatal shooting in Tottenham as Mahad Abdi Mohamed, 27, as a murder investigation continues and police renew their appeal for information from the public.
Police were called to Waverley Road, N17, at approximately 8.45pm on Thursday, 20 March, following reports that two men had suffered gunshot wounds.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where Mr Mohamed was found with a gunshot wound to the head, while a 26-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Despite the efforts of paramedics and the London Ambulance Service, Mr Mohamed was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim remains in hospital in a stable condition following surgery.
Family Pays Tribute
Mr Mohamed’s family have issued a heartfelt tribute:
“Our family is grieving the profound loss of a son, a brother, a father and a friend. We kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful for your understanding and support.”
Detectives Appeal for Witnesses
The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford from the Met’s Specialist Crime North team.
“Two men were shot on a residential street on Thursday, with one man sadly losing his life,” said DCI Woodsford. “We recognise the impact this will have on the local community. My team is working diligently to gather evidence and establish what led to this tragedy.”
DCI Woodsford urged local residents to come forward with any information:
“If you were in the area past 20:00hrs on Thursday, 20 March, and saw or heard anything suspicious, please contact us. Your information, no matter how small, could be crucial in helping us identify those responsible.”
She added that officers will continue to offer reassurance and speak with residents in the area as the investigation progresses.
Crime Scene Remains in Place
A crime scene remains in place on Waverley Road while forensic work continues. So far, no arrests have been made, and police are working tirelessly to track down those involved.
