Detectives have formally named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Brixton as 34-year-old Troy Ramsundar, as police continue to appeal for witnesses and information.
Emergency services were called to Brixton Road, SW9, at approximately 5:10am on Thursday, 20 March, following reports of a man found with a stab wound.
Despite the efforts of police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, Mr Ramsundar was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
A man was arrested at the scene but has since been released with no further action in connection with the murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:
“My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this devastating time.
“I understand the shock and concern this incident will have caused in the Brixton community. My team is working diligently to establish the full circumstances of what happened. Officers are gathering evidence and reviewing CCTV footage to piece together the timeline of events.”
DCI Howie added:
“If you were in the area between 4:45am and 6:00am on Thursday morning and saw or heard anything suspicious, please come forward. Even the smallest detail could be vital to our investigation.
“I also encourage local residents to speak to our officers if they have concerns or any information that could help.”
A crime scene remains in place, and uniformed patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance to the public.
