A woman in her 40s who was shot dead outside the Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt on Valentine’s Day has been named lby Kent Police as Lisa Smith.
The alleged suspect, Edvard Stockings, was linked to a car recovered on the QE2 Bridge at Dartford, where a firearm was found inside.
Fatal Shooting in Knockholt
Police were called to the pub on Main Road, Knockholt, just after 7:00 PM on Friday, 14 February, following reports of a disturbance.
Emergency services arrived to find Lisa Smith suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Kent Police, Lisa was believed to have known the suspect, who fled the scene before officers arrived.
Vehicle and Firearm Found on QE2 Bridge
As part of their investigation, officers later attended the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Dartford, where a vehicle linked to the suspect was discovered.
Inside the car, police found a firearm, and reports later emerged of a man on the wrong side of the barrier at the bridge.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector David Higham said:
“Call handlers received reports of a man on the wrong side of the barrier, and we are not ruling out the possibility that he may have entered the water.”
“We are currently only looking for one suspect and do not believe there to be an ongoing risk to the public.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether a body has been recovered from the River Thames, but investigations remain ongoing.
Community in Shock
The Three Horseshoes pub has since reopened, with its landlady, Michelle Thomas, recalling the terrifying moment shots were fired.
She told reporters:
“There was so much commotion—screaming, shouting, crying. We tried to get people inside the pub to consolidate them.”
Floral tributes have been left outside the pub in memory of Lisa, with locals describing the incident as a devastating tragedy for the community.
One resident said:
“I can’t believe something like this has happened here. Knockholt is such a quiet village.
Police Investigation Continues
Kent Police have confirmed that both Lisa Smith and Edvard Stokings had connections to the area but were not originally from Kent.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
