A van was completely destroyed in a dramatic fire that broke out outside King’s Cross Station this morning, prompting road closures and a significant emergency services response.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:17am on Midland Road, just metres from the entrance to St Pancras International. London Fire Brigade confirmed they were alerted to the blaze after receiving eight emergency calls from concerned members of the public.
Two fire engines and around ten firefighters from Kentish Town fire station were dispatched to the scene. A video captured shortly before 10:30am shows thick flames and smoke billowing from the vehicle as commuters looked on.
The fire was brought under control by 11:01am, but not before Pancras Road was closed in both directions between Euston Road and Goods Way. Bus routes 46 and 214 were temporarily diverted as a result.
Despite the van catching fire near one of London’s busiest transport hubs, rail services at King’s Cross and St Pancras stations remained unaffected.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said:
“We were called to one van alight outside St Pancras train station on Midland Road. The van was completely destroyed by the blaze.”
No injuries were reported and firefighters confirmed that no other vehicles or property were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
