Police are urgently seeking information regarding a hit and run incident that occurred on Gilmerton Road. The incident took place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, between Walter Scott Avenue and Redgauntlet Terrace.
At approximately 4pm a 12-year-old boy was struck by a small silver or grey colored car. Initially, the vehicle stopped, but it quickly fled the scene, leaving the injured child behind.
The young victim was promptly transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by the Scottish Ambulance Service for medical treatment.
Police Constable Claire Mitchell is leading the investigation and appeals to the public for assistance:
“Our inquiries are ongoing to trace the car involved in this incident, and we are asking anyone with information to come forward. The area was bustling with both traffic and pedestrians at the time, so if you witnessed anything, please contact us.”
