A community in Yorkshire is left in shock as two women were discovered dead in separate homes, located less than a mile apart, within hours of each other. Police have arrested four suspects in connection with these tragic incidents.
The series of events unfolded as the first woman was found deceased on Monday evening in Ajax Way, South Bank, Cleveland. Concerned residents had alerted the police, leading officers to the grim discovery.
Shortly thereafter, the following morning at around 10:30 authorities were called to another property in South Bank, this time on South Terrace, following a report of “a sudden death.” Another woman’s lifeless body was uncovered in that residence, just around the corner from the initial incident.
The police have arrested two men, both aged 47, and two women, aged 39 and 43, on suspicion of administering a noxious substance. All four suspects are currently in custody, and detectives are actively questioning them.
While both deaths are being treated as “unexplained” at this stage, formal identification of the two women has not yet taken place. However, the families of the deceased have been informed of their tragic loss, according to Cleveland Police.
A spokesperson for the force provided details of the incidents, stating, “Police were called to a property in Ajax Way in South Bank on the evening of Monday, 18 September, following concerns for an occupant of the address. Sadly, the body of a woman was found inside the building.”
The statement continued, “Around 10:30 am on Tuesday, 19th September, officers were called to a report of a sudden death at a property on South Court in South Bank where a second woman had passed away. Enquiries into both deaths are continuing, and, at this time, police are treating the deaths as unexplained.”
The investigation is ongoing, and while only one suspect has been arrested in connection with both incidents, detectives are diligently working to uncover any potential links between the two tragic deaths. In the meantime, a visible police presence remains in the area as they conduct their inquiries and provide support to the community during this difficult time.
