Crews battled flames through the night in the Millmead Road incident
Two people were treated by paramedics after a major house fire broke out in Millmead Road, Margate, in the early hours of Friday, May 16, 2025.
The blaze prompted a large-scale response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who initially dispatched six fire engines to the scene shortly after 2.30am. As the fire intensified, the operation was escalated to nine engines.
Residents told to keep windows closed
Local residents were urged to keep windows and doors shut to avoid inhaling smoke as thick plumes spread throughout the neighbourhood.
This public safety warning was lifted just before 7am, when fire crews confirmed the flames had been extinguished and the operation was concluded.
Two people treated for smoke inhalation
According to emergency services, two occupants of the property required medical treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene. No serious injuries were reported.
Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service responded alongside firefighters to provide immediate care.
Investigation underway
At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and fire investigators are expected to carry out a full assessment later today.
