A police investigation is underway following a fatal late-night motorbike crash in New Broughton, Wrexham, which claimed the lives of two teenagers.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Wrexham Road shortly before 11pm on Friday night (21 March) after reports of a serious collision involving a yellow Honda 125cc motorcycle.
The male rider, aged 18, and his pillion passenger, aged 19, were both transported to a nearby hospital but were tragically pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police Launch Investigation and Appeal for Information
North Wales Police have confirmed that the crash involved no other vehicles, and a serious collision investigation has now been launched to determine the cause of the devastating incident.
Sergeant Liam Morris, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“Our profound sympathies are with all affected by this tragic incident.
We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision and are yet to speak to us, or anybody who may have been travelling in the area at around the time of the crash.”
Police are particularly appealing for any dashcam footage that may have captured the yellow motorcycle in the moments leading up to the collision.
Road Closure and Scene Investigation
The road between Coed Efa Lane and Dale Road was closed for several hours while Forensic Collision Investigators carried out detailed scene examinations. The road has since been reopened to traffic.
Sgt Morris added:
“We’d also like to thank those who stopped to help at the scene, and to motorists for their patience while the road was closed to allow our investigation to take place.”
Support for Families
The families of the two young men have been informed and are being supported by specialist police officers during this extremely difficult time.
Police are urging anyone with information to get in touch via the North Wales Police website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000236736.
