Two people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash involving a BMW in Orpington on Tuesday afternoon (20 May).
Emergency services were called to Crofton Lane at approximately 2.04pm after a blue BMW collided with street furniture, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts
Firefighters, paramedics, and police attended the scene, where images showed the BMW with a crumpled bonnet and its roof removed, indicating that specialist cutting equipment was used during the rescue operation.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed:
“We were called at 2.04pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Crofton Lane, Orpington. We treated two patients at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority.”
Their current conditions remain unknown.
Fire Brigade Statement
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said the incident was under control by 3.57pm.
“We were called at 2.43pm to a vehicle in collision with street furniture. Two people were treated at the scene and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.”
Police Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for further information on the cause of the crash and whether any arrests or traffic offences are being investigated.
Traffic was disrupted in the area while emergency crews managed the scene.
